Steve began playing bass professionally at 17 with a blues and R&B horn band
called "The Only Boys", touring and opening concerts for Mitch Ryder, Gary Lewis
& the Playboys, The Beach Boys and Paul Revere and the Raiders.
Throughout his college years at University of North Dakota and Mankato (MN)

acoustic duos or trios.
Moving to Tucson in 1979, Steve joined the roots rock band, Ned Sutton & the
Rabbits. In 1981 he joined the legendary party band Los Lasers, also playing
blues with 'L Mondo Combo.
Steve's career includes a "who's-who" of top performers: Bo Diddley, Nappy
Brown, Big Time Sara, Rainer and Sam Taylor. He was a member of Tom Walker's
Boogieman Blues three different times. In addition, he was the original bassist
with Tony & the Torpedoes, playing upright bass. Steve played with the Bad News

In 1998 Steve was named TAMMIE Bass Player of the Year. Currently he has three

and the wild, original Americana roots quartet The Fluffingtons. He also plays
acoustic with Danny Krieger, and with the Lisa Otey Band.
Steve has been married to Cheryl Simone for 19 years. He's been overheard more
than once claiming that his biggest success has been getting three daughters
(Sloane, Anna Mae and Caitlin) through college.
